Small daily actions anyone can do

Enjoying a new found motivation to make a positive change regarding your health and wellbeing this year? ⁣⁣⁣⁣Great news! But before you start a 360 diet overhaul, a drastic detox or paying a full year’s worth of bootcamp classes, opt for the much smaller yet doable actions below.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Why? Because health, wellbeing and your ideal weight won’t come from detoxes that are hard on the body, proteins powders or the latest supplement pill but from small daily actions that add up! ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
There is no such thing as a quick fix or magic bullet, don’t start something that makes you unhappy and that you’ll most likely drop out of come March. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

START SMALL HERE

Start by sustaining these small daily actions for the first 3 months of the year and see how you feel. Small, slow and steady is the key to winning this game:

  1. Move your body 3 times a week (a gentle stretch or a full on workout are both great!). On the days off, walk as much as you can like on your way back from work or to your kids drop off etc. 🏋️‍♀️

  2. Cook your own meal 3 times a week. For my fellow New Yorkers, I know that’s an achievement but Yoom Kitchari makes it 300% easier and you’ll benefit a lot from eating organic food that’s lower in sodium and smaller in portion (restaurants look to cut their costs so they don’t always cook with the best ingredients, they usually cook with lots of salt which makes food tasty and their portions are huge!) 👩🏻‍🍳

  3. Apply my 80/20 rule... I used to be super dogmatic and strict with myself thinking I needed to make ‘healthy’ decisions 100% of the time in order to be healthy. But that was too difficult to sustain more than a couple of weeks and it kept me feeling like I failed because I was stuck in a continual detox/retox cycle... Since part of being healthy is enjoying the pleasures of life, I now aim to make healthy decisions 80% allowing myself to enjoy the other 20%. So YES to the occasional glasses of wine, late night out with friends and skipping yoga class for a lazy morning in bed! 💃

  4. Sleep early 3 times a week. And by early, I mean 10pm... 1 hour of sleep before midnight is worth 2 after! Ideally we would all sleep at 10pm every night but let’s face it, I’ve never been able to do that (except in an ashram in India! #notreallife). But doing so a few times a week will introduce us to its many benefits 💤
